| I've wanted to travel to China for years, even moreso after learning more about the country, its culture, history, and people from Julie. Deciding on a first trip was not easy. I wanted to go with Julie so she could show me around, yet I also knew that I would want to spend a lot of time photographing, and I know that is is unfair to turn a regular vacation into a photography trip. In the end, timing and trip availability led me to take a photo trip with PhotoExplorer Tours as my first introduction to this country. This trip provided a good overview of may areas in the eastern part of China: Beijing, Shanghai, Guilin, Suzhou, Hangzhou, and Huangshan.
Upon arriving in Beijing, my initial reaction was much the same as my initial reaction when I arrived in Europe; things were not as different as I thought they would be. Nevertheless, my previous experience has been that the real differences between countries can be subtle, and take a while to be appreciated. |
